Ripening of the Vanilla and Cocoa Value Chains of Western Uganda

The project aims to develop responsible and transparent value chains for organic vanilla and cocoa, produced through climate-smart, biodiversity-friendly agroforestry in smallholder farms. It will support production and certification, while introducing new standards for responsible business conduct (RBC), fostering sustainable and inclusive growth among 1,500 households.

Additionally, the project will work towards making cooperatives sustainable and efficient in their engagement with international value chains. An extended RBC will be implemented throughout the value chain for vanilla and cocoa, enhancing ethical and sustainable practices. This initiative builds strong synergistic effects with ongoing agroforestry projects and aligns well with both Danish and Ugandan development strategies.
