Green Weave: Profitability by Integrating Traceability & Resource Efficiency in Recycled Textiles
This project addresses challenges and opportunities for supporting the micro, small and medium (MSM) sized enterprises that suppliers of recycled textile in Panipat, India. The Green Weave project aims to strengthen the sector and sustain green practices by developing commercially viable and customized Traceability Mechanisms and Resource Efficiency Solutions in the recycled textile supply chain. This will reduce risks for MSMEs facing growing challenges from evolving sustainability regulations, such as the European Green Deal.
By adopting recycling and traceability solutions as well as initiatives for greater energy efficiency at company and operational level, the project will reduce CO2 emissions and increase resource efficiency. Moreover, by strengthening the recycled textile value chains, it will support the growth and sustainability of the Panipat region in the global textile sector. The project will also work towards creating sustainable livelihoods for marginalized workers, the majority of whom are women.
