Creating climate-smart, financially sustainable water solutions for improved livelihoods in Kenya

WaterStarters (WS) adopts an ecosystem approach to protect people, animals, and the environment from climate change impact by providing sustainable water solutions. The project delivers safe and clean water through an innovative financial model, enhancing economic growth and improving livelihoods for rural and peri-urban communities in Kenya. It aims to make franchisees and their communities, especially girls and women, more economically resilient and reduce climate-related water and health issues. Additionally, WS advocates for groundwater retention and recharge measures at the county level to foster a climate-resilient water cycle.

Expected outcomes include rural and peri-urban communities gaining access to safe and affordable water, franchisees managing climate-smart water infrastructure to foster economic growth, and improved water use efficiency and hygiene among communities. Furthermore, the project seeks commitment from county governments to protect water zones, ensuring sustainable and resilient water resources management.
