Climate-Smart Fruit Value Chains for Resilient and Inclusive Growth
This partnership between HPW Fresh & Dry Ltd. and Swisscontact strengthens HPW’s sustainable sourcing model and local employment in fruit processing, while increasing climate resilience, yields, and incomes for 1,400 smallholder farmers in Ghana. From its factory in Ghana, HPW processes and exports dried mango, pineapple, and coconut to European markets, where demand for traceable and sustainably produced fruit continues to grow.
The partnership strengthens HPW’s commercially driven value chain by promoting regenerative agriculture, improving planting materials, irrigation, and farmer training.
By increasing productivity, quality, and supply reliability, the initiative reinforces local processing capacity and export competitiveness. At the same time, it builds a stable sourcing base, creates decent jobs, and advances inclusive growth, particularly for women and youth, ensuring long-term business viability alongside rural development.
