News from the DMDP Waste-for-Value project

News 12 Feb, 2021

The Waste-to-Value partnership has published a video about their activities along the coast in Kenya. WWF and the commercial partner Plastix A/S, in partnership with Jil Plastics and Kwale Plastics Plus Collectors, are tapping the market for recycled plastic in Kenya.

The aim of the project is to reduce plastic pollution along the Kenyan coast, whilst improving the living standards for the local population. The commercial objective is to turn plastic waste, otherwise discarded in the natural environment, into a valuable commodity. Building on strong experience in commercial plastic value chains in Kenya, the project will create income opportunities and decent jobs in the collection, sorting and processing of plastic.
