What is DGBP?

The funding under DGBP was depleted in 2025. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently preparing a new partnership programme for approval and is tentatively planning to launch an application round for this new programme in 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2026. More information will be published on this website when available.

Danida Green Business Partnerships was a challenge fund designed to promote market-driven green transition and inclusive economic growth in developing countries

Once a year DGBP accepted applications from commercially oriented multistakeholder partnerships between commercial- and non-commercial partners. Partnerships bring together complementary resources, capabilities and knowledge which can foster innovative business models capable of promoting both commercial and development objectives.

Full/Maturation projects

The DGBP challenge fund included two application windows, Maturation and Full, reflecting different levels of operational readiness and partnership maturity.

Full projects are undertaken by partnerships with an established operational setup and demonstrated capacity to manage longer-term implementation. They address clearly specified development and commercial challenges and involve sustained operational engagement over 3–5 years.

Maturation projects, by contrast, operate at the formative stage of an intervention, where the partnership structure is consolidated, the proposed solution is validated under operational conditions, and the operational and business model is further specified and adjusted. These projects are limited in duration of 12-18 months and may function as a preparatory mechanism informing the design of potential subsequent Full projects, contingent upon demonstrated feasibility and readiness.

Over four application rounds 2022-2025, DGBP approved 20 maturation projects, and 30 full projects. Whereas most of the maturation projects have ended, Full Projects under DGBP will run until 2030.
