Innovating Sustainable Growth and Green Transition to End Period Poverty in Nigeria

This project aims to tackle period poverty in Nigeria through the enhanced production and sales of safe, recyclable sanitary pads, empowering girls and women by addressing menstrual health challenges. It supports women’s dignity, rights, educational outcomes and economic opportunities, by reducing the need for absenteeism and creating decent jobs.

The principal objective of the project is to develop the local production capacity of recyclable sanitary pads. By using recyclable plastic, the project will also cut environmental waste, aligning economic and environmental goals. Through improved market access, behavioral change, and profitability for both local and international stakeholders, the project supports the shift toward safe, recyclable sanitary pads. This effort will benefit girls, women, the environment, and the broader community in selected urban areas in Nigeria.
