Building Climate Adaptation and Resilience for Rural Population through Financial Inclusion
The project seeks to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change on agriculture that disproportionately impact the livelihoods of rural Kenyans. Juhudi Kilimos is a local micro-finance institution that seeks to refine its business model for climate-resilient products and services, including weather-based insurance, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and weather forecasts. Through offering these products and services to existing and new clients, the project aims to promote green transition and inclusive economic growth in rural Kenya.
The project specifically also seeks to increase Juhudi Kilimos’s client base, focusing on women and youth, and grow its sustainable loan portfolio. By promoting sustainable land use, soil testing, ecosystem partnerships for comprehensive climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth the partnership expects to enhance climate resilience and improve livelihoods through the financial inclusion of vulnerable communities.
