Powering the uptake of climate change Mitigating Pumps
The project in Northern Uganda is designed to build climate resilience among smallholder farmers (including refugees, women, and youth) through the promotion of climate-smart agricultural practices and integrated water resource management, contributing to inclusive economic growth. Central to this is the implementation of Simusolar’s Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) model for solar water pumps, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to the currently used diesel-powered pumps.
Expected outcomes of this project include reduced vulnerability to climate change and environmental degradation, achieved through the adoption of solar water pumps. Additionally, the project focuses on fostering responsible, private sector-led inclusive economic growth to improve livelihoods and income for the local farming community.
